Yeah I know I'm kinda on semi-hiatus now, but I really wanted to get this Epilogue finished cuz for some reason I've had a burst of inspiration lately....Fucking inspiration is a bitch confirmed

Alrighty, without further ado, here's the epilogue!!

GZTALE BELONGS TO :icongolzydee:

~

They were running.

Neither of them dared to look back, even if they knew all too well who it was.

"Hold on, Mel, wait for me!"

"Hurry up, bonehead!" Mel urged, as he looked back to his struggling counterpart. "They're coming!"

Sure enough, Chara was right behind them, thick black liquid dripping from their features, a crimson knife in their hand.

As they ran, they came across a golden barrier, and Gaster was on the other side, a beckoning them forward.

However, as Mel passed through it with ease, Ganz slammed right into it.

"Ganz!!" Mel cried out, his palms pressed against the translucent barrier. "Come over here, you idiot!!"

"I'm trying!!" The other skeleton banged against the barrier with all his might, but it wouldn't budge.

Mel tried to break the golden barrier to let his brother through, but it had apparently became impenetrable.

"Don't mind me!! You and Dad go on without me!" Ganz turned to face Chara. "I'll see you later, ok?"

But there's no way you can do that.

You'll die soon.

"We need to go, Mel." Gaster added urgently, snapping Mel out of this thoughts.

With a grave nod, Mel ran on.

~

The sound of loud music woke Mel up.

Oh, it's that dream again....

The skeleton sat up, pressing a button on his electric clock, which made it go silent. As much as he loved the song he had set for the alarm, he didn't want to listen to such loud music early in the morning.

Glancing to the side, he ran his gloved hand over one of the photo of two skeletons on his bedroom wall.

The walls of his room were covered in photos of him and Ganz. Gaster had taken them when he was watching the timelines.

"How?" He had asked when he first discovered them. Gaster replied that he wasn't sure either.

"The other timeliness had become recordings of some sort," he had attempted to explain. "I just cut these moments out of them."

They've been living in the Void for a few days. Well, technically it cannot be called a "Void" anymore, since it wasn't empty at all.

When they had returned to their white house, they had found an anonymous note stating that they could now shape the place in any way they like. Mel had been skeptical, and went straight to sleep because he was exhausted from using his powers.

When he woke up, the Void was no longer a void.

The house was shaped in a similar way their original home back in the Underground. It looked like it was built with the purple bricks like from the ruins, complete with a front porch and benches where they could eat, admiring the stars. Not the crystals embedded in the walls in the Underground-real stars. Gaster had used the laptop he pulled out of nowhere(?) to search how the stars looked from the surface.

And they were even more beautiful than he had imagined.

"I just wish Ganz could've seen them. He'd love this view."

"He would." Gaster had simply replied, and had allowed Mel to lean against his shoulder as they started reminiscing about Ganz, which was what they talked about most of the time.

Gaster was, indeed, a good father. He didn't mind Mel's attitude, or the fact that Mel constantly made comments and references related to Determination Pills to make fun of him. He always comforted Mel whenever he felt....well, melancholic. It soon occurred to him that his father had been hit just as hard by Ganz's death as him, harder even. He just hid it much better.

But we're both healing, aren't we?

Sighing, he got off dark blue bed, grabbed a box of Melk from his nightstand , and made his way downstairs.

~
"Greetings."

Gaster had just finished preparing breakfast when he heard the voice of a child behind him.

When he returned to his room after the battle with Chara, planning to furnish it, he found a dozen brown boxes that contained a variety of different items, such as food, Gold, and even some of his old lab equipment. Personally, he was quite grateful for the delivery, for it would take time to create the resources they need from the Void.

But who could have possibly delivered them? He had thought then, and the question was still swirling in his mind even now.

Curiosity will always be in the nature of a scientist, after all.

Sighing, he turned.

And found himself staring at large round black eyesockets.

The skeleton stared at the peculiar human(?) child in front of them. They had straight grey shoulder-length hair with short bangs that rested neatly on pale grey skin. They wore a puffy long sleeved, striped sweater and a pair of black-grey shorts with matching shoes.

Gaster adjusted his glasses, peering at the smiling child.

"Who are you?" He inquired, steadily building up his magic. Defenceless as they looked, the scientist knew better than to underestimate a child.

"My name is Core Frisk." They stated simply, their calm voice slightly echoing off the walls in the room.

"Dad?"

Gaster looked past Core Frisk to see his son holding a carton of "Melk" which had his own grinning face on it. They were both confused by the existence of such a beverage, but after some research on the Internet, Mel had simply laughed it off.

"What can I say?" He had stated. "I'm a multiversal icon, apparently."

"Oh, greetings!" The child gave the other skeleton a small wave, showing their tiny hands. "I'm assuming you already heard the conversation."

A small smirk appeared on Mel 's face. "Yeah, You're Core Frisk, I got that. But more importantly..." He walked down the staircase, towards the other being."Why are you here?" His gaze hardened as he stared right into the circular eyesockets of the being, who narrowed them a little, their smile fading.

"I don't have hostile intentions." They stated, their voice remaining infuriatingly neutral.

Growling in suspicion, Mel took his other clawed hand out of his hoodie pocket, ready to summon his attack.

"Wait." Gaster gently grabbed Mel's raised hand. "Let's hear what they have to say.

~

"So....what you're basically saying....is that.....you're an omnipresent being that can perceive every single timeline and universe?"

The grey being nodded, watching Mel lean backwards on his chair, reeling from the information he had just heard. Beside him, Gaster stroked his chin.

"It's not...outside the realm of possibility," Gaster stated thoughtfully. "Falling into the  CORE did allow me to see different timelines and possibilities. It's not unreasonable that determined beings such as you would be able to see much more.

"The thing is, are they even telling the truth?" Mel raised a browbone in suspicion.

Core Frisk's expression darkened slightly. "I understand that it was hard for you to trust Frisks and Charas after your battle with a genocide Chara in your time. But just so you know, I sent the packages."

Gaster's eyes widened as the gray child smiled and continued. "They were gifts meant for some other universes but they were handed over to me since they weren't needed or they were joke presents. For example-"

"Okay kid, is that it? Is that your proof?" Mel interrupted, irritated. "What?" He asked as Gaster shot him a stern look.

"No, actually." Core Frisk's calm smirk didn't falter this time. "Follow me."

They opened the front door of the house, expecting to see a starry sky.

Instead, a blank white expanse spread out in front of them. "Welcome to the Omega Timeline."

The two skeletons' jaws dropped open as they stepped out, looking around the seemingly endless expanse in wonder. Around them, numerous of humans and monsters in a wide array of outfits and styles were doing all kinds of things. Gaster noted that most of the skeletons looked either like Sans, Papyrus, or him.

"M-Mel?"

The skeleton in question turned at the all-too-familiar voice.

There was Ganz, standing in the all white space, alive, proud, grown.

Mel nearly cried tears of joy as he rushed towards his brother.

"G-Ganz....I missed you so much....Idiot...." He hugged Ganz tightly. Ganz simply hugged back.

"Me too....." Ganz whispered back. The two skeletons dislocated. "Hey, new look!"

Realisation hit Mel like a truck. This might be Ganz, his brother, but he was not his Ganz. He was from another timeline. Not his.

"Oh, nothing, just absorbed a human soul, fought Chara, good times, good times..." The skeleton shrugged, struggling to keep his voice nonchalant. "You're from a true pacifist timeline, aren't you?"

"Y-yeah..." Ganz replied, his voice trailing off. "You're from a genocide timeline?"

Mel simply nodded. He nearly jumped as Ganz embraced him again.

"What the hell-"

"I don't care which timeline you're from, you're still Mel, right? That annoying, badass skeleton who would always tell me to be strong-"

"And you're still my kind crybaby brother-"

"My boys...." Both skeletons felt Gaster's arms around them. Ganz tensed slightly before relaxing and leaning against his father's chest.

They allowed themselves to melt together for a moment, enjoying the silent reunion.

"Okay, this is too cheesy," Mel abruptly interrupted , and they let each other go.

"Sans,  I'm sorry-"

"You don't need to apologise, Dad." Mel deadpanned as he remembered the day Gaster left."He already said he still loves you." Ganz blushed slightly at Mel's tone. Gaster simply chuckled.

"Yeah-Wait...Mel, didn't you say you absorbed a human soul?" Ganz glanced between them, the shock evident on his face."And you two are.....getting along...? What happened ?!"

Hearing this, The other two skeletons simply exchanged knowing smiles.

"Welp...it's a long story...."

~

"Heh....he's alive....."
